Pompanuck Afternoon Study

went to this amazing place in upstate new york for a week of musical improvisation with a bunch of fantastic musicians. thought I'd paint but ended up getting to play piano with them for much of the time. learned a lot and had a magical time. this is the one study I did get done.

this was a demonstration at a class at the Arvada Center. done with halogen light

iPod Floral

did this on my ipod with a program called brushes... amazing you paint with your finger. you can control the size of the brush, the color and the opacity... pretty fun.

Memorial Day Floral

this was done while painting with several artist friends on a rainy day retreat in a beautiful cabin near Rocky Mountain Park. light from a window, don't know if it was north or south or what direction...

Don't Worry Be Happy

just finished this study for a fundraiser for the Denver Art Museum. took quite a while, difficult little guy. had the light too close, made such a glare that it was about impossible for me to capture the full effect. had fun trying though and learned stuff.

Monhegan Grey Day

did some adjustments on this one, a study on Monhegan a couple of years ago. a wonderful grey stormy day...

this was a commission, Micah at around a year, also did his five brothers and sisters over a 20 year period. conte crayon on paper.

Monhegan Rocks

this was a study begun last summer on magical Monhegan Island in Maine. Just developed it a little more in the studio. looking forward to my trip there again this summer... painting in paradise.

this is a start for a demonstration at the arvada center for a new class on color seeing. I'll take a few more shots at it starting tonight in class. halogen light

next stage of development... worked for about an hour and a half today... maybe one more session, a longer one and I'll consider it done. But then again... you never know, maybe I'll spend several more hours and sessions. It's all a mystery.

next study here... seem to be over the illness period, feeling well for over a week now. time to get back to this. thinking I'll slow the pace a bit to two or three paintings a week. I'll post each stage of each painting... might actually be more interesting for anyone watching this to see the development. certainly will be for me.
